What is water mitigation? – What is water damage restoration?

Water mitigation stabilizes the home and helps prevent any secondary damages.
Water damage restoration happens after water mitigation and is intended to repair homes and help them recover from the water damage—a way of returning the house to its pre-damaged state.

Small water leak, overflowing toilet to a burst pipe TW9, LLC has the IICRC trained and certified employees ready to handle all of your water mitigation needs.

Due to water-borne bacteria, category 1 clean water can quickly turn into category 2 gray water, which will progress into category 3 black water if not taken care of in a timely and efficient manner.

3-types-water

If your home gets wet and is left damp or untreated, bacteria can potentially thrive and cause future problems. Any type of water leak from a minor plumbing problem that may seem like no big deal can lead to some major damage to your home over time. Wet materials start developing very serious problems like mold within 24 hours.

3 Types of Water

  • Category 1 or Clean water typically originates from
Burst pipes – Appliance malfunctions – Tub or sink overflows – Roof leaks – Blowing rain water -Broken toilet tanks – Condensation or a pipe leak.
  • Category 2 or Gray water is slightly dirty water from dishwashers, washing machines, clean toilets, and so on. And it may have some contaminants.
Carpet pads affected with Category 2 water must be removed and properly disposed of as soon as possible. If a Category 2 is not treated right away, it will become Category 3 in less than 48 hours.
  • Category 3 or Black water such as sewage, toilet backflows or serious flooding from nearby rivers, etc. This water contains waste, bacteria and other serious contaminants. Black water can cause very serious health problems.
